The Step-Change team of business executives average over 20 years of experience in implementing major step-change improvements for a multitude of companies.  All of our principals have held executive  management position with corporations as well as   lead significant consulting projects.  This gives them a unique range of experience across industries, functions, and business issues.  They blend the pragmatic approach of the line executive with the accelerated problem-solving skills of the consultant.

Jack Prouty
Partner

 

 

 

 

Mr. Prouty is a Senior Executive/ Business Transformations Specialist with 30 years of global experience as a line executive and consultant for $100M - $50B businesses. He is a recognized subject matter expert in the area of business merger integration and, beyond his consulting assignments in this area, is frequently solicited by the media for his views and insights on this subject. Mr. Prouty has significant operating and consulting experience in effectively integrating or consolidating businesses, implementing large scale operational improvement/business transformation programs, and strategically repositioning companies for significant growth.

Mr. Prouty has been engaged in over 60 business merger integration and related projects as well as over 75 operational improvement and business transformation projects. His bottom-line focus and pragmatic, sustainable business solutions orientation has been driven by his line executive experience as a prior COO, CFO, CIO and P&L business leader,. His efforts have resulted in millions of dollars of cost savings, revenue enhancements and shareholder increases for US and global companies. Mr. Prouty was previously Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of AirOcare, Inc; the Partner-in-Charge of Business Integration for KPMG, LLP and earlier had been a Vice President of Gemini Consulting, SVP/CFO of Younkers Department Stores (an operating division of Saks), a Practice Leader at Arthur D. Little, and a Manager at A.T. Kearney.

Walt Whalen
Partner

Mr. Whalen brings to Step-Change over 25 years of consulting expertise and senior executive experience as President, COO, CIO, CFO and Chief Marketing Officer.  His experience span the financial services, publishing, transportation/logistics, insurance, health care, consulting, telecom, software, and Internet/e-commerce industries. 

Mr. Whalen has developed business strategies and detailed business integration plans for some of the largest business acquisitions in recent years. He has also developed out-sourcing strategies and their governance for companies undergoing significant strategic changes. Business process re-engineering, technology management, financial management, enhancing sales performance,  business case development, and business strategy are among Mr. Whalen's areas of expertise. He has successfully driven the turnaround of troubled companies and troubled projects. Mr. Whalen was previously with CSX, Thomson and Ernst &Young. He is also a CPA and a CVA.

 

Scott Wiley
Principal

 

Mr. Wiley’s background includes strategic and financial acquisitions, post-merger integration, joint ventures and strategic alliances.  He has particular strength in the areas of post-merger integration strategy and execution, international business, and commercial and operational due diligence.  His industry experience includes financial services and insurance, consumer markets and software.  Mr. Wiley has integrated businesses in North America, South America, Europe and Asia in deals totaling more than $20 Billion. 

Prior to Prior to joining Step-Changes Management, LLC, Mr. Wiley was director-in-charge of KPMG LLP’s Information, Communication and Entertainment business integration practice.  In this role, he developed and directed large-scale business integration programs, serving as the principal advisor to executive teams.  Previously, was vice president of The First American Financial Corporation, where he was responsible for strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and post-merger integration.  Mr. Wiley also directed new venture and strategic alliance activities for Risk Management Solutions, an Inc. 40 consulting and technology development company serving the world’s leading insurance companies.  In that role, he helped position the company as a strategic acquisition target.

Mr. Wiley has innovated traditional post-merger integration management methods by applying Web-based project management tools that enable secure collaboration and real-time information sharing.  His functional expertise includes sales and marketing, finance and accounting, customer service and support, and corporate administration.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the California State University in Hayward, California.
